St Eugene’s conviction and dedication to young people gave direction and purpose to the spirit of the young Congregation that was forming around him. It appeared as a priority in the first rule that “The direction of youth will be considered an essential duty of our Institute. The Superior General will appoint one or more missionaries to especially take care of this task which he himself will carry out as assiduously as the other duties of his office will permit.” (Rule of 1818 – Chapter 3). According to our Founder, our presence among youth is crucial for evangelization.
